John Andrew Wetsell, age 88, lifelong resident of Edinboro, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Edinboro Manor. Born in North East, PA on June 7, 1938, John was a son of the late John and Harriett Eleanor Mory Wetsell. He grew up on the family dairy farm in Edinboro, loving farm life with his five siblings. On October 8, 1960, he married Kathryn “Kay” Mitchell and shared nearly 62 years together before her death on July 27, 2022.
John loved his work and the people he met at GTE, where he retired after 30 years of employment. He was very friendly and looked forward to meeting new people which led him to work various jobs after retiring. He and Kay enjoyed an active lifestyle including riding bikes and camping, and they spent many winters in Florida. John will be remembered as a man of faith and a longtime active member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Cambridge Springs.
Family members that remain to mourn his death include his two daughters, Christine Stainbrook and husband Brian of Meadville, and Kelly Burek and husband Dave of Edinboro; four grandchildren- Noah Stainbrook and fiancée Makayla King, Corey Stainbrook and fiancée Kyleigh Wentz, and Ashley Oakes and Braden Burek. Also, his sister Jean Kilbane of Edinboro, and two brothers- Everett Wetsell and wife Kathy of Fairview, and Raymond Wetsell and wife Vicky of Venango; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Kay, John was preceded in death by a son-in-law Timothy Oakes, and two brothers- Donald and Charles Wetsell.
Friends may call at the C & MA Church, Cambridge Springs on Tuesday, July 7th from 10am until time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Committal service and burial will follow at Edinboro Cemetery.

For years I wondered how he was doing. Now I know. I will never forget your kindness John. Go with the angels. I hope to see you again someday. My prayers and sympathy to his family.
